When Molly started wearing her Pavlik harness, we quickly learned that a few everyday products made a surprisingly big difference. These are the things we found most useful — from getting dressed and sleeping to diaper changes and getting out of the house.
Getting dressed with a Pavlik harness takes a little trial and error. Because the harness keeps your baby’s hips and legs in a specific position, many of their usual clothes can suddenly feel too snug — especially anything fitted through the legs. We found that choosing roomier styles, sizing up, and looking for pieces that easily fit over the harness made getting dressed much easier.
👕 Bodysuits
Next bodysuits — the higher cut seemed to work particularly well with the harness and left plenty of room around her legs.
👖 Leggings
Next leggings — a roomier leg makes these much easier to pull over the harness without squeezing the legs.
👗 Jumpsuits
We loved Old Navy jumpsuits, worn over a bodysuit and the harness. We also liked this Next option, this Next jumpsuit, and this Rylee & Cru jumpsuit.
🩳 Rompers
This waffle romper was another style we liked. Look for soft, roomy styles that don’t constrict the legs.
🎀 Bloomers
Bloomers can help protect the harness from clothing and provide an extra layer between the harness and baby’s skin. We especially liked styles with snaps or buttons, which make diaper changes easier without having to remove the harness.
🧥 Sweatshirts & Dresses
We often layered a sweatshirt or dress over a simple bodysuit and the harness. These were some of the easiest options when we wanted her to be comfortable without trying to squeeze her into traditional fitted clothing.
