The clothes and sleep gear are one thing — but then there are all the little things you don’t think about until you’re suddenly doing them with a baby in a Pavlik harness. These are some of the random products that made everyday life a little easier for us, from diaper changes to playtime.
🧸 A Roomy Place to Sit & Play
Once Molly was sitting, we found that having a place where she could sit comfortably without her legs feeling cramped was especially helpful. The Busy Baby Activity Chair from Crate & Kids has a wider, open design that gave her plenty of room around her legs and became a useful spot for supervised play. It has a built-in tray with toys, a mirror, rattle and squeaker, so it kept her entertained while giving her some time sitting up. Always follow your care team’s guidance about when your baby is ready for sitting activities and whether a particular seat is appropriate. Diaper changes can feel like a production when you’re figuring out how to work around the harness. Having everything you need in one place means you don’t have to keep reaching or walking away to grab another diaper, wipe or cream.

🛁 Bath Time
Bathing can require a little extra planning when you’re dealing with a Pavlik harness. Your child’s care team should always be your source of truth on whether and when the harness can come off for bathing.
For Molly, we were able to take her harness off for a quick bath 3 times a week. We’d keep it simple: a soft baby towel, washcloths and an easy-to-clean bath setup. Having everything within arm’s reach makes bath time much less stressful.
🍽️ A Roomy High Chair
Finding a high chair with enough space for baby’s legs was another consideration once Molly started eating solids. We looked for a chair that didn’t feel restrictive around her hips and legs and gave her plenty of room to sit comfortably. Look for a high chair with a roomy seat and leg area rather than one that feels snug or confining. As always, follow your care team’s guidance about positioning and whether your baby’s harness can be accommodated safely in a particular high chair.
🧼 Extra-Wide Bibs
Feeding can get messy enough without a Pavlik harness in the mix. 🧸 Things to Keep Baby Entertained
We found that floor play became a big part of our routine. A good play mat (like this one from Lovevery) and toys that can be reached without requiring a lot of movement made it easy to keep Molly entertained.
Look for soft, easy-to-grab toys, books, mirrors and activity toys that let baby play comfortably from the floor.

And then there are the things that aren’t really “Pavlik products” at all — a good diaper bag, portable changing pad, extra blankets and plenty of backup clothes. Having those things packed and ready made getting out of the house feel much more manageable.
The biggest lesson we learned was that you don’t need to completely rethink life with a Pavlik harness. You just need to make a few small adjustments and find products that give your baby a little more room and give you a little less to worry about.
